CATERPILLAR 336 Leaking Gear Oil Problems

Leaking Gear Oil

  • Gear oil leaks Gear oil is leaking between the pinion and the final drive. As the leak progresses, you will often have to repeatedly refill the gear oil. While this is a good temporary fix, you can’t do this forever. As the gasket wears, the leak worsens and the final drive risks running out of gear oil. Running dry causes damage that is far more expensive to repair than the downtime associated with replacing the face seals.
